First denarius of Augustus

    Augustus Q small.jpeg Here is mine but it is not a denarius. I love the reverse on this coin.

    Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. AR Quinarius, Brundisium or Roma 29-27 BC, AR 1.63 g. Obv: CAESAR IMP VII, Bare head

    Rev: ASIA RECEPTA Victory standing l. on cista mistica, holding wreath and palm branch; on either side, snake.

    BMC 647. RIC 276. CBN 900

    My favorite Augustus coin was struck around in 18 BC in Colonia Patricia, Spain.

    Augustus .jpg AR denarius 3.45gm - 18 mm
    Obv: S P Q R PARENT CONS SVO (NT in monogram), consular toga over tunic between legionary eagle and wreath
    Rx: CAESARI AVGVSTO, triumphal quadriga right, surrounded by four minature horses galloping right
    Ref: RSC 78, SR1604

    Neato, my friend... that Spanish bull of yours always reminds me of the Huntington auction where I picked up one too. Yours is still nicer!
