Every one has a Nemausus, but i like mine. since every one has jumped off the wagon, i went a little crazy the last days of this month.

    Gaul, Nemausus.
    Augustus..27 BC.-14 AD.
    Ae, As-dupondius.
Obv. Bust of Agigga, in rostral crown, facing left and Augustus laureate, head right.
Rev. COL NEM. crocodile chained to a palm, a wreath with long ties above.
    26mm x 12.29g.

If you have a croc coin post it up or any thing like this!

How many of you had one before they were promoted on this list? This list has been very good to some dealers.

There are quite a few examples of this type available in most price ranges. Where else can you get a portrait coin of the dynamic duo Augustus & Agrippa - political & geographical iconography + Flora & Fauna all in one Chunky piece.

I haven't joined this club yet, only because the coins I've wanted so far cost a month's mortgage, and I like living in a house. But I do enjoy seeing all of yours.

like JA, i'm yet to coin the croc club....for the same reason. this type is pretty high on my list however, i just have to plan out buying one..it' can't be a regular minor fall off the wagon.

One and a half croc out there (only should I say, as my grand mother used to live 30 miles away from Nîmes (Nemausus) and I didn't even find any in her garden...)

May I add for the fellow members who can read french, that a friend of mine (from a french forum) just wrote and edited a book about them. If you would like to have a look : http://www.in-medias.fr/sitecroco/pdf/dossier presse nimes.pdf

Wow, Cuke => those are lovely examples, my coin-friend (congrats)

hmmm? .... yah, I must admit that this might actually be a coin that I upgrade later-on (man, I hate doin' rework!! ... but this coin-type really is pretty cool, so I should probably try to snag a winner sometime down the road, eh?)

    Cheers

My wife and I visited Nimes a couple of years ago. Visited the Roman ruins all over the area. Man I would love to take a metal detector to that area.

I love it when someone gives us an excuse to let our crocs come out to play. Oh, Augustus and Agrippa probably don't mind it either :). Nice one, Eng!

Your coin is a winner, Steve. ALL of these coins have issues in low-to-medium grades. There are so many good things about your example that the missing snout doesn't bother me in the least.

    thanks, JA

... yah, but even though I know that my coin is 100% cool ... I also know that my coin is middle-of-da-pack ...

So, this may actually be a rare occasion that I decide to upgrade, just because the type deserves it (know what I mean?)

... oh, but please don't tell my sweet coin about this dirty conversation!!

    Thanks, brother
