Very nice group. I do hope all will post a separate thread labeled like yours: Favorite x of 2016 (from y) where x= the number of coins (I was planning on ten) and y is the poster's name. Adding coin to your thread will get confusing. I'm sure between us all we will have a wide variety. At present as I work on which ten to use, I have about half and half Greek and Roman and even one late Roman but no siliquae. I even have a Cilician silver but not one shown by collect89. I know there are some here that only look at Republicans and others who avoid Greek and Roman in favor of Easterns or medievals. That is part of the fun of Coin Talk. I might add that I did buy a few coins of Septimius Severus this year but none will be making my ten. Is ten the right number? Twelve? I never though about 16.
So? What I don't understand is why you quoted me. I do not collect the coins shown, but I think they are nice and that @Collect89 did well this year. I'm not saying that they suck or that I hate them.
Fantastic coins Collect89, we all might have to start following you around to pick up such good coins, although it might be a bit hard for me on the other side of the Pacific......
Awesome group of coins! I particularly like the quadrigatus. Doing a retrospective list of the year's best purchases is fast becoming a CT tradition, I like it.
Those are some real nice additions. I think I'm just gonna sit back & watch, not sure I have anything that even comes close. Maybe a top 1 from smojo, lol.
Nice selection of coins. I especially like the ROMA on a tablet Quadrigatus and the facing head stater. On my longer term wish list is a facing head stater from Rhodes. @dougsmit I agree, it is interesting to read about other collecting areas. I suspect much of my top 10 will be rocks to others. Not here yet, but I suspect a top 10. yet another Ramo Secco bar piece
C89 => wow, I'm lovin' your top 6!! (congrats) => yah, the two Sicily examples are my favourites!! (both are awesome)
I don't think that's what he's going for. I believe dougsmit is simply bringing attention to the fact that we all have differences in collecting and that it makes Cointalk all the stronger for it. If we all collected the same exact stuff, it would get rather boring pretty easy. Please correct me if I'm wrong @dougsmit, didn't get my full nights sleep so my analysis might be off
EXCELLENT coins @Collect89 . Super captures for this year! I would take any and all into my collection. I have several Quadrigatii, but yours is a nice coin! Achelous, Victoratii, on-and-on that you have are ALWAYS great gets! Thanks for posting.
