Too bad for the current President , that he is not into ancient coins. With his vast resources he could have a complete collection of aurei/ denari from every emperor/ empress/ usurper that end up on sixbid auction site. King Farouk of Egypt also had a fabled collection. When Nasser overthrew him, he made the a terrible mistake in selling it off in a rash fire sale. Who ever participated in that auction got some really rare coins at bargain basement prices.
Yes, I have two that where formerly in Norweb collection John Here is Farouk in his Mercedes-Benz 540SSK given to him as wedding gift from Hitler in 1938
He's not a head of state or anything, but Buddy Ebsen is famous. Doesn't one of our members (@TIF ?) have a coin from his collection?
I know he had a Proof US $4 "Coiled Head" (Stella) in his collection. He was really big into rare US coins.

Here's the coin listing from that digitized catalog:
An interesting thread for both coins once owned by famous collectors, and coins issued by famous collectors. Although it is not ancient, here's another coin from the latter category (definitely more accessible than the coins with provenance tied to great collections). @Bing - great John Q. Adams Vespasian! and @TIF great Buddy Ebsen! Frederick II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg appointed Ernst Tentzel as “curator of the coin cabinet”. Tentzel published in 1705 “Saxonia Numismatica”. In 1712 Frederck II purchased the collection of Anton Gunther II von Schwartzburg-Arnstadt (1653-1716). (relevant Coinsweekly article). Here's a coin of Frederick II from 1706: German States, Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, Frederick II, Copper, Heller Obv: Helmet with tall ornament above oval Saxony arms Rev: F.S / GOTHU / ALTENB / HELLER / 1706

Here is one from famed Lissner collection, not from actual CNG event, but quction where this coins appeared again..... Maison Palombo auction AV 40 Francs 1811-A Paris Mint Napoleon I Empereur ex: Lissner
Sweden's Queen Christina (1632-1654) owned a large coin collection. From the Classical Numismatics Group (CNG) website: https://cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=231824 In 1654, Queen Christina abdicated and moved to Rome, taking with her an immense coin collection of more than 15,000 coins. Her coins are easily identifiable by the crowned C stamped on them.
Queen Christina succeeded Gustafus Adolphus after he was KIA at Lutzen in 1632. She tried to get Sweden out of the "Thirty Years War" but failed. In the end she did the right thing, converted to Catholism and abdicated. Her coinage is spectacular, esp. the gold issues from Livonia/ Latvia. I have a AV Dukat from Latvia/Riga with her portrait. Riga was under Swedish Occupation at the time. I love the Baroque Era coinage/ as much as dare I say...Ancients. I wish I coild afford those magnificent AV 6/7/10 Dukaten
Larry Adams also was a famous collector, I ended up with 15 of his nice coins. My fav. one... Triton XIX AV Pagoda 35mm. 3.79g. Eastern Chaluykas Kutolunga I 1035-65AD ex: Adams There 9 different types/ rulers of these punchmarked AV Pagodas known, So far maybe 50 examples in collections. This ruler, 3 are known. Images are suppose to depict "Tiger" and "Rhino" John
Some notables with outstanding collections.... Louis Eliasberg (most complete US coll. all high quality)+ World gold coinage Virgil Brand Col. Greene Eric Newman (collected coins for 100 years a record) Enrico Caruso Brent Pogue (formed in todays $ most valuable coll.) However, when taking in inflation, Farouk/ Eliasberg etc. would have surpassed that 68 Million, by far....
