How much does eye appeal really affect the value of silver bullion bars, or, doesn’t it? I’ve done a little eBay surfing on this bar. The round about number ranges from $800-$1200 but some of the examples are really kind of bland looking and the description is, Vintage. I fancy the swirls on the family bar but, does it really make any difference in value? As well, how does the serial number play into all of this?
Those happen when the bar is being formed and is cooling, and i think Depends on the collector, i personally collect the 10 OZ Engelhard and The Johnson Matthey and i like the ripples however i dont think there Enough on there own to demand a premium.
It makes a difference because that it is an older bar that was poured into a mold. Your bar has very interesting cool lines. There is a higher price placed on these older bars with cooling lines. I am not sure what that premium is ? There definitely a market for them. If you sell this on Ebay you might get a buyer for it. If you sell it as bullion you not get the premium you paid for it...you will get bullion value only.
So many different bars and rounds to choose from. All types of conditions and then there's the slabbed ASE's but in the end, it's all an ounce of silver. Unless of course you have a 20 oz bar like above.
Just because somethings old, doesnt make it more valuable! where it Comes from does! that,s investing 101.
Can someone help me understand - the image above is a silver bar, 20 oz, for around $1000 ? Is it selling for that because its collectable (maker/year/appearance) ? You can get a nice looking (well to me) 100 OZ bar from the RCM for like $1780.
I can't answer that but I will say that's $50 an ounce and anyone that pays that price when silver is around $16 an ounce needs to contact me. I have a large silver round and bar collect that I would love to sell them. If they buy it all I'll give them a 10% discount,
I no longer handle bars, but I can recall a few occasions when I bought large quantities of one ounce silvers with spectacular toning on one or both sides. Someone must have some of those to show.
Engelhard,s like the one from the op can bring steep premiums but that has Allot to do of where it was poured at, roughly about $300 in bullion, and then The rest would be based again on location and rarity, i recommend this site ALL ENGLEHARD.COM They really don,t give values only how many were made, but it can be Tricky to define each bar from series to series as they almost look Identical. https://allengelhard.com/definitive-pages/ag-20oz-25oz-class-2/
Also check out there counterfeit Registry the 20 and 25OZ are one of the Most faked so you should be on guard with yours.
