They are not QUITE the same product. The one JM sells is the "bullion version", and the one the Mint sells is the "numismatic version" with special dies that have been "sandblasted" to create a more uniform matte finish. Nice packaging too.
Thanks @V. Kurt Bellman. What's the keyword to differentiate the two on eBay, etc.? (It probably wouldn't be the word "Uncirculated" since the JM one uses the descriptor "BU"/"Brilliant Uncirculated"). Also, does the "numismatic version" retain it's value better?
Hard to say. Both obviously have tracked silver prices somewhat, but I have noticed the bullion versions declined more than the numismatic ones did when silver fell from its lofty heights. The higher prices on the boxed numismatic ones seem more stable. On most issues, the visual differences are subtle, but on a few, they're stark.
