I do like to poke the preppers and bullionistas. Like most ideologues, no sense of humor.

how long of a siege can you endure in your wooden structure? All that wood smoke and cooking food will be like a beacon to the zombies. and how many firefights do you think you can survive? How many hours per day do you spend in fear (or hope) of a civilization collapse?

I get a little concerned any time I read the word "zombie" from ideological friend or foe. Is there a usage of this term to which I am not privy? The definition I know is strictly fictional.

 

I propose we spend far more time preserving modern society than getting all glassy-eyed over some apocalyptic outcome and some competition over how well or long one can survive such. IOW, be part of the solution. But no...

I believe it was our mod Jim who commented on the ironic tension between the pessimism of believing in a societal breakdown and the optimism of our ability to survive one. The combination simply makes zero sense.

Actually they exist in nature. Here is the National Geographic Mag. ( between SCIENCE journal and National inquirer ) article on it . Some of these organisms are slowly coming north from the equator. I think I have come in contact with many that already are infected

LOL! Only someone with a dependent upon "government" protection ideology would think that a "bunker" would be constructed of wood. I said we have "community policing", where local residents, and the police realized that they were impotent against the lawless who were moving from the cities and a direct route from Mexico (via I35) as gangs, producing, moving drugs, could be contained by their limited facilities. We now have an active officer in our organization. We have prominent notices displayed at all road entrances, and have reduced the problem significantly. Private cameras/dummies have also been installed at prominent intersections. The majority of our rural properties now have dogs, gates, and guns.

Our major cities are now implementing a policy of community policing, after realizing that the lawless drugged segment of our societies far outnumber the limited facilities and interests of urban residents. We, as a rural relatively poorer general population, only have "rent a cops" that are shared between various communities.

In the event of "Martial Law", we'll defer to a better protective means, but until then societal unity is strength. You might study the siege/battle of Stalingrad, which was deemed impossible.

We have strayed appreciably from coin storage, but your questions have been answered, and I trust we can return to same.
