Everyone has an opinion here. I would get it, and if happy, keep it. If not, return for refund.
I do disagree on one point. The presumed integrity of the seller. "High volume and its too much of a hassle"
Sorry, but all he needs to do is include a sentence or two in all his descriptions about that. The fact he has negative feedback about this, and STILL refuses to make it known, says all you need to know about his integrity.
Receiving the item then returning it gives you a chance to make an informed decision, but I am betting this guy relies on buyers doing that. He HAS to know, yet keeps his shady methods

I think you're on the right track, OP. Stock photos would definitely be a reason for me to refuse to continue with a coin transaction online. You've already asked for him to cancel the sale and he's refused; you've warned of an impending SNAD case if it's not to your liking. I would say you've fulfilled your ethical duty here and could either insist that the seller cancel (and get eBay involved if they don't), or take a chance, look at the actual coin on sale, and then do a return if not to your satisfaction (and get eBay involved if he doesn't cooperate fully).

In all seriousness, it says DON'T which is an absolute. However, it's under the title of general guidelines. Which is it?

To OP, just return it under the return privilege. But what if it's better? I'd still return it to keep my "karma" in check. Just my 2 cent piece.

Just a thought... but before all the recommendations of filing SNADs, disputes, etc, if this "isn't to your liking" or the seller doesn't "cooperate fully", perhaps it would be wise to ask for a link.

I have no idea any more. When they had their team working, it was absolute unless it was a multiple listing.

I got ya, just figured he did research on it first. That I guess would depend on how much you are spending. I have somewhat of the same situation going on. Somehow I am shown buying a very expensive coin on ebay and they are awaiting payment. I just noticed it in my email today. I remember looking at the coin, but would have never bought this coin online via ebay. Strange,... Only thing I can think of was that maybe i hit the buy tab by accident, certainly don't remember doing it. I hardly ever buy off of ebay, I would suspect there are confirmation pages after the buy, etc. Changing password for sure today. A little worried...

Thanks, Paul; I assumed the same, but after a couple quick searches of sold listings was unable to find it. Still, the point I was trying to get at had less to do with this exact coin (and even less to do with Mr. Rassi), than the all-too-common notion that a CT member/OP is infallible and/or in some cases, is actually telling the unmistaken or unembellished truth. Again, this is meant in a general sense and in no way towards Rassi, but there have been more than a few threads here in which it was later discovered, and only after much piling on the other party had taken place, that the CT member had made a mistake, was stretching the truth, was straight out wrong, etc etc. In some cases this happened only after the other party's (most often a seller's) actual username had been dragged through the mud when in fact they deserved none of it. In situations such as this, where the issue could possibly be verified by the posting of a link, it could only help to further the OP's point or position and bolster the reasonableness of suggested actions to be taken.

While I'm sure some would disagree, when presented with a "he said, I said" type of thread, it is, in my most humble opinion, only fair and reasonable to keep an open mind, especially before recommending actions be taken that could hurt someone's reputation and/or possibly have an effect on their business.

Tell the seller to cancel the transaction since the listing didn't say the picture was a stock photo and you would return it item not as described if sent. This is not your fault since and would not apologize since you were not at fault.

I see you resolved it, that is good.

I have bought and also understand the frustration of abusive sellers. I also dealt with someone using a stock photo but not specifying it. They listed a picture of F-VF dimes and sent VG coins one with a scratch. The coins sent even had mint marks when the listed coins didn't.

So I email the seller P.N.G jbmdds5749 and tell him some how a possible BUY from me of one of his coins at 2K was processes. I tell him I did not make that buy. He writes back, I can cancel it, but needs my help and to call him at 818- xxx-xxxx and that ebay already has a $120.00 fee.

Sounds like a scam to me...

I don't know the deal but some sellers really itch for negative feedback. If you didn't purchase it just ignore it. It is his responsibility on dealing with fee reversals for canceled transactions.

Seriously? What has he done deserving of a negative, no less from a non-buyer "buyer" asking not to follow through with a purchase he doesn't recall if he made or not? Another fine example of overreactive ridiculousness on the part of an eBay buyer (for some strange reason I don't think you'd feel the same if wearing your seller hat).

If this gentleman is worried if some "scam" and doesn't wish to call the seller, then he should at least call ebay and NOT just ignore it. After all, real, imagined, or accident, the "purchase" is on his account and it's his rightful responsibility to correct the situation.

I haven't logged into eBay for a month and got an email that said I needed to pay for an item I purchased. I logged on to see what it was and it was a BIN coin of which I don't collect or have ever searched for. I was able to cancel it but still wonder how it got there.
