Hello. I am new here. Since I was little I have enjoyed collecting coins, but it was nothing serious, I don't have rare or valuable coins. I am 20 now, and I have just bought from an old guy not knowing what he sells this draped bust dollar from 1795. I am from Eastern Europe. Do you think that it is real or fake? Also, it's a bit different in the picture, in reality looks smoother, I guess is from the scanner's light which is harsh.
    This is it:

For me, it's like a more used version of the first one: http://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/3039/dollars/draped-bust/1795-P/off-centered-bust/

Totally fake. Looks like a cast copy.

It's not grainy in reality, it's really smooth, I thing it's the contrast and scanner's light...so no hopes? How much does it worth?

Where do you see that is Off Centered?

That is very fake, sorry. It appears to be a cast copy.

Not sure what you paid, but a genuine example of this coin would be about $12,000 (or about 11,000 euro).

I would highly suggest you return it, if possible.

Well that should answer your "real or fake" question immediately, then.

Not quite, old people in my country are pretty uneducated, they don't have internet and that one for sure had nothing to do with a computer, so that he could not knew it's value.

Being grainy or smooth doesn't matter on this coin. It's a fake. Period. Be glad you only paid $5.00 for it. And welcome to CT.

Can I ask how do you know, so that I'll learn? I have googled and saw some fakes and explications but my one doesn't seem to fit, not having those counterfeit traits.

The mushy strike and details, combined with a pimply/bubbly surface are instant giveaways that it is fake.

It is quite possible that your coin closely resembles an authentic coin because whoever made this probably used a real coin as the mold for the casting.

It's a very badly made counterfeit. Without going into lots of detail, your coin doesn't even possess the correct design details for the issue.

I would donate it to your local coin club as an educational piece.

Fake. It’s got bubbles of metal all over it. At $5 you got what you paid for. Unfortunately other collectors have not been so lucky.
