[QUOTE="LEG END, post: 1049535, member: 26139"]Really, APMEX is NOT the problem. Exclusivity is. APMEX lists that they sold out 1000 sets in 19 hours, but the Mint release date is officially the 6th of December. When you "selectively channel" the supply of an item, those sellers are aware of their selling position. They charge for it too. However, the two sellers who have pre-sales on EBAY are charging over $1,500 per set, more than double the bullion price. Those sellers also know that they have a conduit, and are free to charge "whatever the market may bear". So long as the government crawls into bed with distributors then we are going to get gouged. The only question remaining then is how much the person making the decision to sell these through sites outside the US Mint got as kickbacks. For sure, this is a corrupt sales regime, and worthy of whatever Congressional investigations are conducted as a result of this injury to those of us who pay BILLIONS of dollars each year to the US Mint, only to have it thrown in our collecting and collective faces, RIGHT AT CHRISTMAS. My advice to everyone is to complain to the Congress and Senate that last year Scrooge ran the US Eagle program, not affording us ONE SINGLE Proof US SILVER EAGLE. This year, yet again, Scrooge has gathered his stingy cronies together and found a way to not only gouge us on US Mint sales prices, but to ensure they and their Grand and Worthy Right Honorable friends get theirs... first.

Really? APMEX sells out before the coins are even released? Really, there must be an investigation to uncover Scrooges' New Clothes, because we are paying for them.
