A guy from work got the one set he ordered on 8/9/12. He said they had spots on them and that he was returning them. Says he called the mint and they indicated that they made a "few" extras and they still maybe able to get him his coins. I told him if they minted to demand they have no extras. That either he would be getting someones cancelled order or someones returned coins. He's bummed about the quality of the coins he received.
2012 SAN FRANCISCO SILVER EAGLE SET Total 251,302* (as of July 6, 2012) My question is, if there are returns on these sets, will the total number of sets be revised? Will the US Mint resell the returns through another channel and the total mint number would stay the same? What will the mint do? Thank you.
I got my set on August 1st. The RP had clear specks in the frosted field. Very minute but not a 70. Looks like I won't be sending that set in for grading. I'll see what they 2nd set looks like when they come at the end of September. I'll choose the best 2 out of both sets and send those in for grading. I just hope the mint doesn't send "used" sets by that time. I hope they are still "minting" to order.
Early on, yeah. Now silvertowne is charging around $290 + shipping. Apmex and other dealers already has theirs at $400. Ebay is running in the $350 - 400 range. I should have ordered more than just 1 from them, I guess. But whatever. Think I'll just keep this one.
Hi everyone, I'm noob here. Hope someone can share with me the differences between the First Strike, San Francisco, and SF Trolley labels? Is one label more sought after than another, I'm confused with all the different labeling? Thank you in advance.
some like there silver eagles slabbed and some don't. NGC uses the term "early release" and PCGS uses the term "First strike". both are coins sent in the first 30 days of release. NGC also has a "first release" designation as well. as far as the trolley and other labels.they are just different options NGC offers. the PCGS first strike seems to be carrying a bigger premium right now. in the end its all just marketing. but all part of the FUN.just my opinion.
