    $2920 KITCO
No reason to panic and dial 911.
Nice little 1.5% bump today though.
If you had any gold:p you probably Overall had a good day today:D
Tomorrow is another day and some big baller might smack it back a bit.
Just curious, does anyone else periodically check the cash value of their gold holdings?
    $2900 X Ounces = :greedy:

    No Gold holdings here. Sorry.
Any idea how to calculate one's 14k Gold jewelry in this turbulent economy. Without any diamonds that is of which I have none.

    Conflicting stories :p
    No Gold holdings here. Sorry.

    I remember my first Gold.
traded/bartered my wrecked 1969 mustang fastback shell in the early 80's for a 14k gold ring with three 1/4 karat diamonds and $1000 cash.
Used the cash for a custom wedding ring with 1/2 karat Marquis diamond for the bride using the bartered ring for my band.
After the dissolution :p sold them my mother and she made a custom ring for herself.
At least someone is making use of the gold and diamonds :D
I'd rather have the car back.
    We won't discuss the bride.

Hoo boy. Right after I sold a goodly portion of my small stack, of course.

I converted all my raw bullion coins (two K-rands and an Austrian 100-corona, plus a couple of 1-oz bars) into coins for my collection, while I was at the FUN show.

Some of the new purchases I made with the proceeds were themselves gold, though. So I've got less bullion than before, but more numismatic gold.

I figured out the issue. Timing belt slipped or jumped a few teeth out of time.
The cause of that was the bolt on the tensioner pulley came loose.
It came loose because someone at some point overtightened it and it started to pull the threads out of the aluminum head.
I was able to get a longer bolt and catch the rest of the unused threads in the hole.
It started but has a top end rattle... thinking valve train noise.
I have a video and was going to ask my neighbor for a second opinion before I tore into it further BUT I couldn't catch him on Sunday.
I tore into it Monday afternoon as I had a few hours of free time.
I'm at the point where I can check the valve shim lash.
My neighbor listened to the video but said he couldn't tell, would have to listen to it running.... I'm thinking now that I might have jumped the shark and done more than necessary but I'm learning and can put it back together if I don't find anything with the valve lash clearance test.
Should know more today as the spark plug wires came in yesterday and I was able to get the broken boot out of the #4 plug tube...so making progress, but probably didn't need to pull it this far apart and made extra work for myself.
    That's how we learn sometimes.
Thinking it could be as simple as the oil didn't get up to lubricant the valves from sitting? I figured I had turned the motor over enough to get the oil flowing but the top end was still rather dry.
I'm erroring on the side of caution, because I haven't messed with this motor this deep.
The rattle I wasn't expecting and honestly it TILTED me a bit... Toyota motors are usually really quiet.
I've had a few and never had a valve lash clearance issue...it's a combination of I don't know, I haven't seen it yet and I didn't wait for a second opinion.
I only have an extra $35 in it so far and that's what I needed in parts to replace anyway to make it work or run.

Yeah I do it on occasion, I bought a 2023 gold buffalo for $1952 and I'm pleased to see many sellers on the bay asking for over $3000! Puts a smile on my face! :D

My prediction of $3,000 by 2030 is looking solid. :cigar:

I think my $5,000 by 2035 prediction -- which I gave about 25% chance of happening when I said it 10 years ago -- is now looking like 60% likely.

    We'll see...:D

I'm thinking now $5K by 2035 is on the low side, but discussing the reasons is depressing and against site rules. :(

In the early 80’s I traded an old Höfner bass for a small block 289 to put into an old ratted out Mustang. Wish I could have that trade back.

Just state the economics and finances behind it.

I think we can reach $5,000 by 2035 with rising stock markets, a stable dollar, and low inflation -- all of which you might NOT expect from a 60% rise in the gold price.

Remember...it's only about 6% a year. The 1970's saw gold rise 35% a year to the $400's and 43% a year to $750. The price went parabolic at the end, so calling a peak price is kind of subjective. :D

Regardless, the CAGR dwarfs what we have seen since 2015 at about 11% a year and the 6% a year we need to get to $5,000.

Gold's problem is it tends to gallop for a few years rather than jog for many.:D We also saw 20% a year from 2001-11.
