I guess all the copper pennies would be worth close to 25-50 cents or more a piece to draw out for bullet jackets.

What value is there in copper cents? Let's see, I'm not great at math but I'll give it a shot. Okay, let's say that 146 copper cent makes a pound, so 14,600 ($146) would make a 100 lbs. and coinflation.com says a copper cent is worth .0171730 each. so according to coinflation a 100 lbs would be worth just over $250 bucks in metal value. Ahh but, some say that would only be worth 25% of that value and that would be only $62. Let me say right now, if there is anyone stupid enough to sell 100 lbs. of copper cents for $62 ( or stupid enough to believe you could only get $62 for $250 worth of metal) then PM me cause I'm buying.

I remember back when I was in high school from '75 to '79, back then there wasn't any stackers and I called it my silver stash which I kept in an old safe on the back porch. All lot of people back then said that it was just junk ( isn't it ironic that name stuck) and that it would never be worth much long term (we all know how that turned out) but I would roll hunt and picked out what I could from my job at the full service station where I pumped gas and from mowing yards in my neighborhood ( I would give discounts for paying in silver) and buying at the LCS. By the time I graduated in '79 I had saved just over $2800 face value just in time for the run up in price. I laughed all the way to the bank and with my profits I paid cash for a brand new 1980 Cutlass Supreme and still had enough left for a nice down payment on my first home. My point being is " To your own self be true" and do what you feel best doing in spite of what people say because people can be wrong.

Great. Come spend gas money to pick those 100 pounds of copper pennies up, or send me your zip and I'll tell you how much you need to add to your paypal payment to cover that huge shipping cost.

    lol

Very wise... yet here it goes...

Yet someone is stupid enough, or perhaps I should say desperate enough, to feel the need to resort to deflection instead of simply proving his claim. You know, in the same way you demanded of others?

This has NOTHING to do with face value, but only the actual value of the alloy of "copper" cents and what the entity buying it would pay if legal. Again, would coinflation be a buyer? No, so is it really wise to take their already misleading claims as unquestionable fact? No, it's not, but what is wise for anyone considering such an, ahem, "investment" is to discuss it with those they would be selling to. Very, very simple concept... obviously no one would sell for less than face, and believe it or not, goes straight to the other gentleman's point.

It's rather interesting that you earlier said: "watch out going to the bigger yards because they will rob you blind" yet can't seem to wrap your head around that fact that even you already acknowledged the possibility of being paid a low percentage of grade A prices. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Priority Flat Rate. I used to order 100 lbs of lead from Doe Run Mine before it was shut down, and they put it in the flat rate container which held 100 lbs of lead. I fear you may not be able to get 100lbs of copper in though, with copper being lighter per volume.

70 lbs Max! Ugh. Guess I'm getting old. I haven't looked at it for a couple of years. It was 100lbs the last time I had the lead shipped to me. Don't understand things that change. Are corvettes still $5000?

Yes it does have to do with face value when $146 is worth $250 in metal value and for the record 95% copper is #2 copper (cu 94%-96%).

    Cool.

We don't actually care all that much.

    1) You can't melt it to sell it for other uses. 2) It's prohibitively expensive to ship it, even in flat rate boxes 3) the amount of copper in the world is exponentially greater than the amount of silver and gold and it will likely never hold much value beyond industrial purposes.

Maybe you can encapsulate your entire response to this with another Mark Twain meme?

And you continue to attach false prices and contradict yourself.

There's little lower than one who willingly misleads others, and is particularly true when it comes to what many believe an "investment". You're right though... everyone should believe some anonymous schmo as opposed to the entity they would be dealing with. Hey, you're not the one suffering the consequences, so who cares, right?

Maybe you should read the Mark Twain meme again, duh. Or maybe you'd understand this better, stupid is as stupid does.

I don't read memes. I'm an adult with an education.

That's right and obviously someone paid way too much for your education, you could of at least got your moneys worth.

Your meme and "stupid is as stupid does" have two totally different meanings, but nice try....

How much would that education cost in copper pennies?

My "moneys" worth? No biggie; could just be a simple typo, but then we see "could OF" which, of course, should be "could HAVE", my dear Detecto....

Next time you wish to insult someone's intelligence or education, you'd be wise not to out yourself as an idiot in the process.
