Sold my FCX too soon at the end of last year. Only made like 25% gain after a few months. That’s OK, I believe it was Rothschild or Rockefeller that said he got rich by selling too soon, lol.
With all the demand for copper and inflation, you will only need 95 tons per million dollars before you know it. I have a list of things I'd like at my house. A pile of junk copper pipes and wire isn't on it.
Here's a 5.5 lb. bar from my new mold, which was only half of it's capacity. Here's another mold that I made myself and bars.
I haven't sold any bars lately, but in 2019 I sold around 525 lbs. on ebay and made about $7.25 a lb. (before fees) and after fees ended up just over $6. With work the way it is right now, I don't have the time, but as soon as I can I'll be making bars again.
Man, pretty nice to get such copper. I am sure you know it, but make sure you separate the electrical from other, since electrical more pure and valuable. Thank goodness I am stocked up on Romex already. My mining stocks, which are either all copper miners or large exposure to copper, are loving these markets.
I use borax which works as an anti-flux, most of the other metals in the mix gets skimmed off the top in the slag. That's how I clean up the sterling I melt also.
