Oooooh, I can't wait for the next round to start. What if a coin from the emperor Theodosius was posted next, what would people make of that? John
I’d say it belongs to @bcuda because I think I remember him saying in a post once that he preferred large bronzes to small denarii. But I am probably wrong and just misremembering. Hopefully he isn’t talking about me! I don’t have a Severus Alexander, so here’s just an Alexander (the Great): In the name of Alexander III, Macedon AR drachm Obv: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin Rev: Zeus Aëtophoros seated left on throne without back; aphlaston in left field Mint: (Uncertain mint in Greece or Macedon). Ref: Price 862
I can not wait for the next round so we can see what your little soldier/sentry guys are up to and why that one is your favorite for this contest. (or was it this one that was your fave?) Thank you again, @Curtisimo and all the volunteers and contributors for arranging for us to have some fun.
I’m going to guess @bcuda because I like big bronze and I cannot lie. You others brothers can’t deny that they’re pretty sweet. Here’s a nice medium bronze of Sevrus Alexander that I got from PlanoSteve and lordmarcovan last year. Erin
Round 4 is officially up and running so this thread is now closed to further guesses. If you missed the chance to vote in this round don't let that stop you from playing along with the game! Each new round is a chance to win so you can still get in on the fun in Round 4 linked below. Coin #4 - Guess the CTer 2021
LoL. I was not absolutely sure what Erin did until I read your respnse @Alegandron....and what she did was pretty darn funny!
Sorry for bumping an older thread over "Coin #4" .. but have a bit of catching up to do.. I guess @Parthicus I have an extremely rough sestertius of the fellow.. but its a nice chunk of history.
