I got this coin as part of a collection that was given to me. I just thought someone had marked it up. After reading the links above I now have a better understanding as to what the marks meant. Makes the coins even more interesting to me. At first I just like it because it was old and an 8 Real.

Someone- indeed, a lot of someones- "marked it up", but not in modern times.

This is an example of "good damage", because it's far more interesting than plain old random damage or graffiti would be. It tells a story.

(True, that story is written in Chinese, but still...)

Some collectors consider the marks as just damage(which technically they are) that lowers the value, then others, like myself, like the marks and consider them an enhancement, if not to the value, then at least to the "story" of the coin.

Haven’t had time to do the drawing yet. Soon. In the meantime, if anyone who hasn’t already entered wants to squeeze in a last-minute entry, now’s the time.

It was a happy day for me yesterday. Got the mail and saw an envelope covered in stamps and realized it was the prize pack from LordM.
    Many thanks to @lordmarcovan
I'll try to post better photos later, but for now as I know everyone wants to see them.

I've started to decipher the counter stamps. I'll post individual photos in the coin chat forum later. Once again thanks Lordm. By the way the elongated cent was the real highlight of the package.

I've got it as it's about ME as in Maine. Georgia was also easy as Just peach-y, and Utah as Utah k too much (you talk too much), Arkansas is a Diamond in the rough.

If memory serves, you're in Nebraska, right? I stuck you an old 1954 Nebraska commemorative stamp on the envelope, just for fun (purple, top left). Alas, no Nebraska quarter, but that was a preselected random group.

Many thanks to the Quarter Master for those quarters. The elongated Indian cent and WW2 Vichy French coin were from me, but of course the quarters were from him. I was merely the distributor there.
