You’re not ineligible if your oldest coin is 157 AD. That’s newer than 242 BC.

Sorry, misread the date in your intro. Problem solved anyway as the coin arrived an hour ago. So read my entry as 157AD. Thanks

Actually these are my oldest, so I'm not entering the contest.

aargh ... now I gotta go pull out my Shipwreck stuff.

but I'm pretty sure my oldest is from the Atocha / Mel Fisher expedition discovery which would be early 1600s ... BRB

I posted my oldest, non-qualifying coin on the other thread. So, here's my oldest and second-oldest that qualify for the contest:

While I do own a couple of ancient coins, I have no interest in winning a coin older, so I'll pass on this contest and let others have a chance. Good luck to all, and thanks Rob for the contest and QuarterMaster for the coins.

The other side of the flip had the date.
Is the freebie the same base metal? Becz I’d have to go to the SDB and rummage thru the Rum bottles to find the gold pieces.

If you win, I'll just have to send you something from before 1622 when the Atocha sank. (Or before 1617, for that matter.)

I believe the oldest coin I have is a Roman Nummus of Constantine the Great from AD 324. Given to me by another great CT member :)

My silver drachm from Moesia, Istros barely makes the 242 BC cutoff point. Reference guides date my drachm within the time frame of 256-240 BC:
