Just sayin', I don't care if an American Gold Eagle is an MS70 or even an MS68, as long as it's brand spankin' new, that's all I care about! I'd like to get a type 2 but I'm not gonna pay a crazy a$$ premium for it! Bottom line is check out the price tag on these suckers!! Guess I'll be going without for awhile, or I'll shop at the US Mint! How about you, how do you feel about graded bullion or the new type 2 AGE's!! :DComments?|ampid:PL_CLK|clp:2334524

Graded bullion (unless you can get it close to 'spot') is a fool errand.

Why do I want to buy a graded bullion coin ? the premiums are substantial and like
the O.P suggests a new or B/U coin is priced much better :)

Theres a lot to choose from thats for sure, but I would steer clear of graded coins
especially for investment purposes, you goal should always be buy the cheapest
coin you can find remember in bullion condition doesn't mean anything, right
now working on a world 1/10 OZ gold set coins range from $225 - $300 depending
on what you get, also bought 30 more OZ,S of Silver today as well, so about
    $1,500 for todays total.

I wonder if the crazy high premiums will result in lower sales and thus a more expensive collectible in the future?

Like if not many sell because no one wants to pay the premium maybe it’ll be worth more?

For example the 1893 S Morgan Dollar costs a fortune because of the low mintage of 100,000.

I think ASEs are good investment bullion if you can get them for a decent price.

Dealers locally where I live pay a $2 premium for them over generic or even other nation’s bullion like Maple Leaves.

Plus they are very recognizable worldwide.

The premium on Mexican silver Libertads is insane though.

it’s all a matter of supply and demand, only
a few dealers selling on the bay, not like
there use to be and options are few 1/10 OZ
going for close to $300 !!

Which means if not many people are willing to pay the high premiums for Type II Gold Eagles there will be a low supply & maybe the demand will be high in the future and everyone will want the first year issue of the Type II AGE.

The focus is the grading part, again most are
B/U so it really doesn’t matter.

There will be some demand for the type two's but, it will drop fast. However, I think the mintages will also be low because of the cost of bullion to coin them.

    Why would demand drop fast?

If I recall correctly the 1986 American Silver Eagle has a bit of a premium due to lower mintage than later years.

Couldn’t the same thing happen with the Type 2 AGE?

Or do you think there aren’t enough AGE collectors like there are ASE collectors so the demand won’t be there?

I’m trying to decide between buying a Type 2 AGE or just a regular 2021 Gold Buffalo.

Gam3rBlake, The proven choice is the Gold Buffalo, in my opinion, good luck with your decision.

I've got the gold buffalo in my in basket. It says they are back ordered. Do I have to finish paying it to ensure that I get it and complete the sale?

Either works, in most cases there's no additional charge for the Buffalo over the AGE :)

I don't know why you wouldn't get the Buffalo

Its what ever you like best, not a big fan of the buffalo design personally...LOL

It has a less appealing design.

They’re both 1 troy oz of gold though. It’s just that the AGE has a little silver & copper included.
