Pay attention to ebay. Crazy sales from time to time. Stay with reputable sellers though. Apmex for example.

Personally Ive only been using apmex. Shipping times and quality. When they say BU expect to get a flawless coin, or very near it.

Be weary of JM. DO NOT BUY BRITANNIAS. All of mine from them have mint issues and or finger prints. The quality control is bad. I only bought one Panda from them but the capsule it came in was broke.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the local coin store. IF they have been in business for awhile, then they are most likely reputable. They are buying and selling quality coins and bullion. Their prices usually compare with online places. Plus you don't pay shipping, you get to hold what you are buying before you actually buy, you get to take it home right away, and you can pay cash.

There are also other pros to buying from your local dealer, like supporting local businesses and establishing relationships that may help your prices in the future.

I purchased plenty from JM, but only one silver panda, I meant that I did not purchase a quantity of them.

Also, I agree with ASE2015. However, the nearest one to me is about 200 miles away.

    Jared,

That stinks that its 200 miles away. But that must mean you are in a rural area where it is easy to escape to the middle of nowhere. Sometimes, I miss living out west!

Do you mind me asking what how much over spot you bought the panda for?
I really want to buy one of these, but my local store always has crazy premiums on them

back when silver was around $20 i think. could have been $18.00. I paid a hefty $26-27. Looking back, i made some terrible purchases.

Yeah, I remember when premiums were like $8 too. I couldn't get myself to pay that. I stayed away from silver eagles and picked up some junk silver and generic rounds instead. At least you still have something to show for your transaction. Most people blow their money on junk, and I don't mean pre 1965s.

Many good deals on ebay and big dealers selling there; MCM had 20 2015 eagles for $374 the other day; not a bad price but silver did dive Friday again like gold!

Try Golden State Mint. They produce bars and rounds

Think about what you're asking for.

Shipping costs are pretty much fixed. A cheap dealer could send a few coins in a regular envelope for less than a dollar, but it's risky. To send coins in a minimal padded envelope, you're looking at at least a buck or two.

Now, suppose you're trying to ship $5 or $10 worth of coins. "Free shipping" means you're losing 10-20% -- not 10-20% of your profit, but 10-20% of your total price. What seller would be willing to accept that loss? The only way they can do it is by baking worst-case shipping costs into their base price. That's how you find people asking $3-4 for a single silver dime "with free shipping". If you order a dime from them, they're still able to make a little money. If you order two or three, they're making out really well.

Your best bet is to find a place that does not offer "free shipping", but does offer reasonable shipping, per order, not per item. That way, you're not deceiving yourself.

I forgot about MCM. I purchased a 1/10 from them. Overall, it was a great purchase. Packaged well, and received in a timely manner.

    Numismania You hockey puck!!

I've had terrible shipping delays on my last 2 orders from MCM. Very nice people, always return a call or email in a timely manner. But, when inquiring about shipping time, I've gotten '....due to a high number of orders....' I've got another roll of ASE's (bought at that special price of $372 and change last Friday.....then silver tumbles Friday, started tumbling the second after I clicked 'pay'), and if this one 'gets hung out to dry', I'll not be using them again. And it's too bad...as I said, their Customer Service is terrific, they just gotta get more staff in the shipping dept.
