Certain bullion always on sale, does this mean it's not a great deal?

I like to buy 1 ounce American Gold Eagles, but, of course, the seller’s premium guarantees you start out in the hole. I depend upon the APMEX sales on eBay. You can buy using PayPal without the usual additional charge for using PayPal or credit cards. The best I ever got was - I think - $14.95 over spot.

Gold is just a hedge to me for other investments. By a hedge, I mean a small position I keep in case economics go haywire and PMs prices really jump. Overall, there are much better investments, IMO.

Not his, but mine for certain. There is nothing rational about being a full blown prepper, sorry. It’s a sick fantasy.

I think most people have some level of prepping going on, possibly even Kurt. I don't prep for a societal collapse but I have supplies to survive a natural disaster. A good shake here in northern California and vehicle access would be cut off for months or years until bridges are repaired or replaced. I don't know why Kurt doesn't have more than 10 days worth of meds.

Some are controlled substances. And no, I engage in no societal or financial breakdown prepping. I also don’t insure myself against getting hit by re-rentering satellites, or incoming meteorites. The closest thing in my area to a conceivable natural disaster is a nor’easter that comes straight up the Chesapeake and dumps 30 inches of snow on me. Where I live, we get no storm surges, have no significant seismic activity, and I’ve already lived through the wettest year ever (2018) with nothing resembling a flood. I’ve never lived in a high propensity for natural disasters place, by choice.

To answer the question in this thread yes, US Air Force Reserve 1oz silver rounds are a bad buy. What I really want to know is what is worse: Credit Card companies, Casinos, or insurance companies?

The State of California has recommended prepping for reasons losthomer already noted. Not knowing any full blown preppers I won’t call them names. I doubt you would do that to their face. I’m not threatened by the existence of people who take care of themselves and live by the old Boy Scout motto of “Be prepared.” I appreciate their knowledge and skills and wish I had some of those, myself. They may believe they are targeted by an increasingly corrupt government or fear aliens or zombies or whatever. I don’t know everyone’s motivation. What I do know is that politics and religion, activities of “rational people”, are responsible for more deaths, pain, and poverty every day than preppers. Those are the truly sick fantasies else why would they be banned on this board?

PMs have a place in any investment strategy. As long as inflation or competing economic systems exist (internal or external) there is danger to our assets. PMs are one solution to that threat. Bullion buying is, as you mentioned earlier, not a profitable investment activity. But, as the major Central Banks will admit, gold is the next best thing to fiat currency, else why would they buy so much of it each year? It’s insurance that doesn’t require premiums, won’t expire, and can be passed on to the next generation if one wishes to do that. I consider it an expense...but one that I enjoy for the intrinsic qualities of PMs.

no, you just mentioned the "chaotic phase of the Apocalypse but isn't that why god invented guns? After the herd gets thinned, again, PMs and guns will make a nice start for a more cooperative, polite, society."

    nutbag fodder.

Ag $4.62 on 11/22/2000, Gold $272.65 EOY 2000. The stats from that Congressional bill are a surprise - I had no idea that politicians had any use for facts.

I heard you can check by holding a small light bulb to a suspected object. If it lights up it's totally rad dude.

History has shown gold and silver will ALWAYS be considered money so having a stash is not a bad thing. And, should hard times come, packages of seed would be a wise investment as well. lol

The word SALE is misleading as gold and silver are NEVER on sale! The distributors idea of a sale means LOWER premiums per coin, bars or rounds for a specific item or time. I guess the best way to look at it is by checking spot prices on any given day and then go from there. lol
