For the past 9 months I have been buying Silver Rounds instead of govt bullion like the Maple Leafs. However I never knew there was such a thing called the "Super" Maple Leaf (8 Canadian Dollars) and 1.5 oz of silver. However the premium on APMEX is almost $15 over spot for 1.5 oz of silver. I love Maple Leafs but should one consider this Super Maple Leaf or any of the RCM 1.25 Bison coin as well?

If you're buying the coins as a silver investment or hedge in an emergency I would never pay that kind of premium . If you're buying them because you like the coins , more power to you .

    Good post!

I hadn't heard of the SuperLeaf 1.5 oz before. But the premium on Apmex seems excessive for a bullion coin:

Much lower premiums on the two 1.25 oz Bisons I ordered from jmbullion:

I like the Bison design. And I have a hunch this new-for-2015 oddball 1.25 oz size will eventually gain favor with silver round & bullion collectors.
