I got my notice a few weeks ago and my subscription arrived last week. When did you first subscribe to the program? If it was fairly recently you may be way down on the list. Still, I'd give 'em a call (mint) to see what's up. I'm very sorry to hear of that sodude. It's a real hassle that you have to send them back and then bite your nails hoping that the exchange items are in better shape. Then again, these are uncirculated coins, and as such, not handled as carefully as the proof coins. With the money we pay for these items, though, they should be handled and manufactured with much more care.
I had a rather poor experience with one of my Anna Harrison First Spouse coins. I ordered two (2) each Unc/Proof. The Proofs and one of the Uncs were magnificent. The other Unc had a very distracting gash in the right Obv field...nobody would keep this coin. I requested an exchange and I was shocked to find that they sent back the EXACT SAME coin! I know this, not only by the gash on the coin, but due to a very specific bend in the COA. To make matters worse, the coin was flopping around...loose in the box. They didn't even put it back into the capsule. Lesson learned: Always return coins for refunds and purchase again (separately) if needed. Personally, I order more coins than I need (as soon as they go on sale) and return the ones I don't care to keep. As coins are returned, they are put back on the shelf for the next unsuspecting Schlub. That's why it's important to order as soon as they go on sale...so you don't get picked over coins.
I also used to buy 5 of something with the intention of only keeping the three best coins. I got tired of "hoping" the mint would send me coins of good quality, and then having to return the damaged coins. Now I just wait a little while, and only buy graded coins, so that I know that all the coins that I ordered are what I'm expecting. I 'll let the professional dealers play the quality guessing games with the Mint.
Got mine Wednesday. It showed up on my orders the 31st and shipped that day. I had canceled some other subscriptions so it must have spoofed them. My two look fine, I wouldn't say they're 70's. I've seen others that really pop out at you. I have a couple of 2008's that do that, but I keep them raw anyway. Green18 thanks for the order info.
Well, the mint mongers do need to collect a profit, don't they? No free lunch but we do keep looking forward, don't we old fellow?
