I can't find any mention on CoinTalk about Bullion.Directory and their Bullion Dealer of the Year Awards.
About 2 years ago, Alan Macallister of Tartan Digital Ltd, Dunbar, Scotland, set up a website called Bullion.Directory, which is, as its name implies, a directory listings of bullion dealers.
When we first became aware, it was because they were running the 2015 Bullion Dealer of the Year awards, for the United Kingdom, USA, and Canada.
Since then, they have added Australia and United Arab Emirates (UAE).
They appear to run the directory very well, giving free listings to all bullion dealers (after some vetting, I think). They also accept advertising and sponsorship, which more often than not risks losing impartiality. In this case, I get the strong impression that their listings, and feedback ratings are treated very ethically and professionally, with money and commercial interests kept from favourable treatment. This makes a refreshing change from the large number of phony comparison websites and affiliate sites out there, many of whom give preference and more to their sponsors or highest bidders.

I believe Bullion.directory is a valuable asset and resource, and deserves to be better known, and recommend that forum users check it out.

Yup, smells like a quacking attempt at drawing people to their website. He got a promotional post knocked last week. Right dodgy nob he thinks he be.

Contrary to what some might think making a post that recommends a company or a dealer to the members of this forum is not against the forum rules - as long as the person making the recommendation is not affiliated with or the owner of the company being recommended. And from what I can see, Lawrence Chard is not affiliated with Bullion Directory.

In point of fact, not only is it NOT against the rules, a CT member making such a recommendation is strongly recommended !

Take this for example - https://www.cointalk.com/threads/coin-dealers.14152/

    The post was not advertising.
We have no financial interest in Bullion.Directory.
The "promotional post" which was removed was similar to the posting above, but I happened to mention that we had won a number of awards.
If you were Brie Larson and had just won an Oscar for Best Actress, you would probably not be censored or censured for mentioning it, although most people would know because the Oscars get more publicity than numismatics or bullion investing.
I think "Right dodgy nob he thinks he be" is more than slightly insulting, probably in breach of forum rules on courtesy, and inaccurate.
I happen to have been running our coin business Chard (1964) Limited, for more than 50 years, and if I say it myself, have a good reputation here in the UK, and Europe.
I am aware, or believe, that CoinTalk forum members, are mainly from the USA or Canada, and many or most have probably never heard of us.
Any mention we get on CoinTalk is unlikely to generate sales for us, as most of our business is UK based, with only about 10% of our business coming from outside the UK.
I think I entitled to be proud not only of our business, but also the educational in informative parts of our websites, 20,000+ web pages. We know from meeting US numismatic journalists at events like the Berlin World Money Fair, that they often use our websites for information.
That's all I have time to contribute at the moment, but I am happy to further the conversation later...
