Is any one familiar with this varieties? I believe to be a DDR. hope you can see in picture. On the reverse, e pluribus The us appears to be doubled up.
DDO and DDR are more known as Varieties. They don't fall into the Error category. Here is some information https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/1655/Variety-versus-Mint-Error/ and https://www.pcgs.com/News/mint-error-or-die-variety
@Johndoe2000$ It is a big deal.. Did you look at the links I provided? It has nothing to do with our forum. The OP is asking if it is an Error This name change will never happen by the way.
I see you changed your question. How about some better pictures? I suggest out of the 2x2 and better lighting.
Re-Read my post. I was only quoting Chris's response to the same thing you did. Hence the "quote". I said nothing here, but I do agree that correct terminology should be taught, and used. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1846-large-cent-with-over-date.349777/
At present that would be the best picture I have. If you have the zoom option it would help. Possibly save picture and zoom?
Both of you are right, but I still insist that we need to change the forum name. That way, we can spend more time on teaching newbies the correct terminology and Mr. P. won't have to spend as much time playing traffic cop. Chris
A digital zoom that is commonly associated with a USB microscope is nowhere near as good as an optical zoom that is commonly associated with a conventional stereomicroscope. Chris
I have a few Varieties publications, that don't include this Variety . I also have a 1899 Indian cent Variety that I don't see in the publications that I have. My thought when joining this group COIN TALK was that I would be able to receive and possibly share information.
I believe the CPG, 4th Edition had only two volumes. J.T. Stanton once told me that the CPG was never intended to be a totally complete reference. If so, it would be too large and too expensive to make it a worthwhile reference material for the average collector. Have you looked at the very back of your CPG, Appendix J, Cross-Reference Chart? Chris
I don't understand why anyone would feel the need to correct others all the time. It's not friendly, it's not helpful, it's just rude and runs new folks away from this site. Wrong forum, poor spelling, big deal! It's not our place to be bossy. Get a dog or a cat and boss them around.
