Feel free to read some of the information in one of the other ATB threads, but to sum it up. Dillion Gage is one of the mints Authorized Purchasers (APs), they are being forced to sell these coins at 10% above what they paid and no more.

Current spot value has nothing to do with availability of these coins, just simply how many they have available which is probably in the 3000 range if they have not already sold
    some.

"The order process: 1. Print and complete attached form. 2. Return completed, signed form via email or fax. 3. Send bank wire for proper amount according to form. 4. If supply permits, delivery will be within 4-6 weeks."

I think I will skip, because it is already past 4PM ET, and the earliest time I can wire the money will be next Monday. And then the "if" factor. I just wish I knew this earlier. Thanks to OP's heads-up anyway.

I e-mailed the company to ask if the special was still available and received the following:
Hmm. I note that there was not an affirmative answer.

I can understand from their perspective that they cannot give you a firm answer until THEY GET YOUR $$.

Does DG encapsulate the coins or just toss them in a bubble pak envelope?

there was a post somewhere that showed how all the dealers were sending them but i cant find it now. what about the other companies? it'd be nice to know for those of us that have not gotten them yet, im pretty sure MTB's are coming encased.

Yes, the MTBs are encapsulated while the Jack Hunt coins were not.

Oh, oi! Thanks 9 for making me spend another $1K on short notice. :p Banks do like to have cut-offs for wires and mine is going to be sent by noon Monday. Would have liked to have known this yesterday...get in your time machine and fix that! So if I don't get a set from DG and I do get a pair of wire transfer fees, I'll still think it was a worthwhile try. BTW my bank wanted a city/state for the wire destination. It's Dallas, Texas - something the form doesn't mention.

Yeah, I knew my bank had a 4pm cutoff for wires so I got there in time. In reality they don't need a city and state and even if their internal policies require it they should be able to get the info on their system when they process the transaction. Many banks have internal policies for wires that they will argue is "the law". Whenever faced with that assertion I ask for a cite to the specific law. Having practiced law for many years I tell them I'm interested in looking it up myself to make sure I'm as up to date as they are. Never once have I gotten cited to a law.

Not surprised to hear that about bank practices.
This was definitely the most annoying version of payment that I can think of short of a barter system involving gently used sheep! Wonder what new payment wrinkle the boys over at APMEX will deviously deploy upon the unwashed coin collecting masses? Dooo tell APMEX....doooo tell!

The Fed Wire is great for sending large sums of money that need to be there as good funds, for sure, and quickly. It is stupid to require it for a $1,000 set of coins. Either ACH or money orders would have worked just fine.

The Dillon Gage sets come in really really cheap plastic flips. The coins are stacked on top of each other and placed in a small cardboard box with a lid....which is placed in a box the size of a USPS small flat rate box.

But, how do the coins look???

Sorry, I should have made comment on the coin's condition. Overall, I was fairly pleased with their condition and wouldn't think twice about ordering another set from them if I had more money that I could invest.

Of two sets that I opened there were two coins that had significant contact marks on their reverse, and a few others had minor marks that would be expected given the way the mint shipped them to the APs.

I think that of the two sets, only 2-3 of them might get an MS69 grade. The others (not counting the two with significant marks) were likely 68s.

Keep in mind that's just two sets out of thousands that they have.....so there might be better....there might be worse.

I just learned that my bank branch is actually open on Saturday mornings, but I am not sure if wire transfer will be among the allowed transactions at that time. Does anyone know?

Your bank will take your information and they will wire the money on Monday. If they ask you when to wire it tell them asap. It doesn't cost you any more for them to send it in the morning or the afternoon.
