Keep in mind - buying from APMEX does not does not provide a NY resident an exemption from paying NY State Sales Tax on their purchase.

But you still owe the $150.

I'm not the IRS, and I wouldn't turn someone in for evading sales/use tax, but calling lots of attention to it online seems like a bad idea.

I've been to the store, and they charged me retail (it is a store, after all). However, for small purchases, the owner is very nice, and what I have bought there, I was happy with.

For larger purchases, go to a coin show.

Thanks, did not know of that place. A little ways out for me, I am within the vicinity of "The Big Apple". It appears really though, that online ordering is the best method now that I realized about the NY tax rate. Especially for the larger orders!!!

It's a shame because I do not mind paying a little more for local dealers, I would love to help out the local economy, it's not cheap to run these brick and mortar shops. But paying enough taxes as it is in NY, not really feeling the extra "donation" to the state....

I'd go down to the Diamond District in NYC--there are some dealers who set up there mornings. Also, Stern coin is quite good and there are a few coin shows around.
