Wow. Looking at these tells me I won't be able to spot them just by the plastic. Looks like the coin will give some of them away.
Usually the font on the label and the color of the label are pretty easy giveaways. They are getting better at this everyday though. I would expect soon enough, PCGS will be forced to image every coin that they certify similar to how NGC does it. They don't have to be very high quality images to spot the difference.
Do all NGC coins have pictures? Even if they do, still, you need to examine and compare carefully. This one has got a picture. Do you think it's real or fake?
Look at the PCGS section of The Black Cabinet: http://www.theblackcabinet.org/series/pcgs/ I have thousands left to go and put up images for (from eBay auctions and other lists; I only have a few fake slabs, physically, in the stacks). Most are PCGS as PCGS' pre-edge-view slabs were a simple enough design that counterfeiters love them. If you have a serial number you want to look up to see if it's in The Black Cabinet's database, use the Counterfeit Certified Coin Search.
Considering the NGC Cert Lookup tool says "Contact Customer Service" where the grade is listed is the only red flag I need. As for the original purchaser who got duped, they paid the price.
