Anyone have an old receipt for silver or gold when the prices were cheap that they want to share?

    This could be interesting.
I ran across one of my first silver bar purchases with receipt today as I sorted stuff.

Fire up the time machine, I'd like to have a few more at this price point :p

How did you get it for under spot?

The plot captures the fact that he bought it on February 14, 2003. The resolution of that plot likely doesn't cover all fluctuations, and probably only documents daily closes.

    Wish I saved them.

I used to buy 1/10 th ounce eagles, maple leaves, and the occasional Australian nuggets in the 90s in lots of 10 for around $300-$350. I would keep 1 for a date set and sell the rest of them for a few dollar mark up to people at work and the coin club. The profit paid for my coin. I had a nice run of dates, including some platinum pieces but sold them in the late 2000s when gold hit $1000/ounce

I think it would depress me as I bought
allot of gold in the early 80 s , no receipt
or coins from that time period, but have
recently replenished my supply 11 OZ
of Gold in the past 12 months plus another 3 OZ of the 1/10 variety.

Only problem I've seen with holding is I added the 25 ounce constitution bar and 50 ounce constitution bar to the 10 ounce constitution bar.
There is still a 100 ounce version, but dang the prices :greedy:

2006 purchased a monster box of Silver Eagles. With shipping and insurance they came to $12.72 each IMG_20211230_135401384.jpg IMG_20211230_135415774_MP.jpg

That silver chart is inaccurate, doesn't reflect real-world, market prices. Silver peaked at about $50 in early-1980.

I slept through the PM and numismatic price swings of the 80s, 90s, and 00s. I could post plenty of amusing receipts for computer equipment, though...
