And This Is What A Rubber Band Can Do

I’ve been asked many times about using a rubber band to hold coins together. I always say no, don’t do that. I’ve even heard people come in my local LCS and ask the dealer about rubber banding. He says the same thing, not a good idea. Well I opened up one of those packages that I never got around to opening up and inside was a whole bunch of silver ounces. Probably bought them about 10 years ago, maybe longer.
I’m posting a fine example of what a rubber band can do. In this case it’s just on silver ounces but the black stain was where the rubber band was when I removed it. I never thought that the shipper, a well known online retailer of various types of bullion, would use rubber bands.
At least it’s just silver ounces and not coins. They’re always worth the price of silver and I have enough of them so the few that are damaged are not worth the time to dip them and remove the tarnish.

This one the rubber band was crossed.
