I loved Belgium when I visited there with my parents during the last century and during a lucid period of my young life. I remember those beautiful fortresses and castles. We visited the Waterloo Battlefield—I was a Napoleon fan.
I've never been to continental Europe, much as I'd love to have seen it. Did finally get to the UK in 2013. That was fun.
No, it was the Holey Gold Hat (and Holey Coin Vest). Those were a much earlier collection, first begun circa 2000-2001. The Eclectic Box began in 2013, before the England detecting trip. In fact, I sold some very nice coins out of the box to help pay for the trip.
I received an unexpected honor last evening. I was elected Praeses (Latin for—at the head) of the Diaconate (Head Deacon)
Congratulations, Ray. I am not familiar with the award but it obviously has great meaning for you. EDIT: I regret my ignorance, Ray - I googled Praeses of the Diaconate - and I will repeat my congratulations.
Thank you Brother, @jamesicus ! The title means Head Deacon. I’m the guy who has been elected to keep the other 18 Deacons in line and out of trouble
@jamesicus , I think the title is a combination of Greek and Latin terms the founding members of our church crafted to identify the leader of our Deacons. Anyway, it’s an honor and I’m grateful for the trust of the Electing Committee.
I'm grateful to @ValiantKnight for creating this entertaining post way back in June of 2016! It still serves as an outlet for Ancient Forum Members to display images of sentimental, serious, silly, and solemn (SSSS) events in our lives.
