Elaine, do you mean the set that contains the 4 unc prez dollars, unc ASE and the Sac dollar? I am still unclear what you are referring to unless I just totally missed something you were talking about.
I bought it through a store that advertises in Coin World. Can't remember the name of the store. It was located in Canada so it took some time to get it. I don't remember the price either but it was less than $150 but more than $100. Probabably $130. I had never seen a set like that and figured that if you want nice foriegn sets, you will pay a little more. Shouldn't foreign sets cost less??? All the sets that I have bought from the Canadian Mint, Royal Mint in Britain and Austrailian Mint all cost me more that it would if I bought an equivolent us coin set. I guess there is a lot of cost that goes into shipping. Glad you all like the set. Can't wait for the 09 to come out. And yes, they are the proofs - 1oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz, and 1/20oz
i think the uncirculated version is also beautiful. and it is cheaper than other popular bullion coins.
I see now that there are a few sets on eBay. The lowest price I saw outright was $129 for item 180404260646. There are a few Libertad Sets that are auctions, and possibly may go for less. I do think congress is having the mint produce too many different items. I used to collect every coin that the mint produced since 1900, but I quit in 2008 because trying to keep up was getting to be ridiculous. Too many coins, too many albums, too many safety deposit boxes. But I would have to vote yes for our mint to produce a set like these. Perhaps use the Walking Liberty half dollar for the mold. I think they would look awesome!
