When the gold buffalo's first came out I didn't like the way it looked. I thought because of it's size the coin didn't look right. I felt the same when when they made the buffalo silver dollar. I felt the design was never meant to that large. However, in 2008 when they made the 10th oz, o.25 oz and the 0.50 oz gold versions I thought the smaller versions looked better. I bought the 0.25 oz coin and was very happy with it. Overall I never thought they needed to make two types of gold bullion coins. On top of that they are over priced. Not a good investment. I think the best gold coins to buy for bullion purposes is the many modern 5 dollar commemorative gold coins the mint has made over the last 30 years. You can buy most of them at spot or maybe a little less.
