Alegandron 2018 Recap

It is very difficult for me to ever list my top coins, have a top 10, etc. I capture my coins because I like them, for historical reasons, or to satisfy my itch. My collection is on a temporary hold due to some life change issues at mid-year. However, I have still captured around 50 or so.

Do you need better reasons?

 

Very fun acquisitions! ALMOST makes me want to expand backward from the Empire into the Republic. My favorite? The puppy dog running alongside the Dioscuri!

 

So many nice additions, the Roman republic coins are as artistic as the ancient Greek coins actually. I really like there are so many different animals on all the coins.

 

I love your 1½ Shekels! I've recently picked up a shekel and two 3 shekels... It's a super interesting time historically!

 

Great selection, I like the "Why? PIG!" & Why? Lion / Hercules the best.

 

Sweet coins, the "electric" Erymanthian boar denarius is awesome!

wow..those are some dandies!...you got bout twice as many coins as i did and quit early 9_9..very fine old friend!

 

I hope life will get back on track for you soon, @Alegandron. You definitely still managed to acquire a fine, fun selection of coins. My favourites are the two ex stevex6’s and that Amyntas II bronze with the cute dog chewing bone reverse.

I agree! I love that Dog action...very realistic.

I gotta be careful as I create Republic breaks in many threads, and I hit yours all the time with alternative names from the Republic. You are going to start getting interested, and become competition for Republics...

 

Great coins Brian. I am however partial to the Carthaginian coins you posted; those are wonderful.

Yeah, I seem very partial to Carthage coins. Some are pretty difficult to capture. These two were fun to find this year.

 

@Alegandron a wonderful menagerie: she wolf, horses, lion, pig, dog, sheep. I will share a coin connected to the wild boar, also from Marcus Volteius, and best wishes for the new year:
