Nice to see the three Baltic States here. But there must have been enormous political changes since the 1930's !!!
Oops, sorry, I now see I have posted that coin twice before. How about a Poland 1923 20 groszy, made of zink.
Thank's to Siberian Man, I have time to edit this post & keep the coins in proper country order. Firstly, from Danzig, we can sail to Sweden..... Here is a 2 Kroner from Sweden dated 1936. Now we can take the train over the bridge to Denmark: 1771 Denmark 1 Skilling:
Collect89 - 2 Kroner from Sweden dated 1936 ? Sorry, but it looks like 1938 to me. Taking the train over the bridge to Denmark - I assume that means the Oresund Bridge ?
Just checking to make sure you were paying attention (as I certainly was not). The Sweden coin is dated 1938. Yes, I was referring to the Oresund Bridge. I took a train from Copenhagen airport to Malmo Sweden when the bridge was first opened. At the time, I did not know that it was a new bridge. I learned about the bridge after the trip. Here is a map showing the bridge location:
Although I've also lived in Stockholm, I've lived in Helsinborg, (opposite Elsinore) for some years. So I ought to know what's in my near vicinity !
Aren't you all going to congratulate me now ? I've just had an overwhelming victory in an auction - a German (or Prussian ?) medallion some hundreds of years ago. The bidding started at 99 pence - just under a British Pound. And - no more, no less - that's exactly how much I bid. No other bidder(s). So I won. I have to add postage, though, altogether £1.94. The medallion is a bit of a mystery, which should get me working to find out more. Knowing some German, I see the Lord Mayor is mentioned - he may even grant me his autograph !!!
Well I'll post this Malmo tram token because it looks like that is where we stopped. (Well, it looks like we are really in Denmark, but I need a reason to post this token because I like it. )
Hate to be awkward, but the picture doesn't show a Malmo tram ticket, it's for the town of Helsingborg, just opposite Hamlet's Castle at Kronberg in Elsinore. Helsingborg and Elsinore is where Sweden and Denmark are closest !
That it is. Must have messed up when I was taking photos of a large batch of transit tokens. I can't even find the Malmo token now.
1944 Norway 25 ore. I think Norway was occupied by the Germans at the time so this coin is made of zink.
