I went to Tallinn, Estonia a couple of years ago. The people there and the other Baltic states say they have a better lifestyle now than prior to the late 90's. Less Russian influence, entry to the EU and the Eurozone has all helped.

I have never visited any of the Baltic countries and I imagine they would have cold winters and some places, like Finland, Poland and Sweden, have lots of wild undeveloped country. All the people I have met from those places were quite nice, same as the average people everywhere in the world. We are all quite similar, when you get right down to it.
