It was struck c.1020 in present day Sweden. English pennies were widely copied in Scandinavia as they were considered the 'gold standard' of coinage. Huge quantities of English coins from Aethelred's and Cnut's reigns were shipped across the North Sea to Denmark and Sweden as Danegeld payments and the styles copied locally. It's a hoard coin and consequently a little bright, but otherwise acceptable.
Thanks, I love learning more history. That jibes well with a couple of books I read recently about the Danish raiders in England around that time and the sacks of silver coins they acquired. Here is the next coin, Germany, 1955 G 1 mark
Yet another micro-nation - the Principality of Andorra! A 2002 one-centim (KM 176). I prefer Carl der Grosse over Charlemagne or Carlemany.
From Suriname to Guyana (British colonies of Essequibo and Demerara) with this half stiver from 1813 (KM 9).
Might as well head to Brazil! A 1994 real (KM 636). Notice how the 1994 on the reverse is faintly seen between the diagonal lines at the top of the obverse.
