This fabulous coin with its beautiful ebony patina was my first 'broad AE dirham', a Central Asian pecularity from about 1150-1250 AD. I bought it on Ebay not knowing how large it was: diameter 38 mm. It is from Banakat, now Tajikistan, of the Qarakhanid dynasty, 1206 CE. Album 3425.
