Sorry to leave the vagueness! The Three Brothers refers to an era of the Sultanate of Rum. Rather than the kingdom being united, it was ruled in portions by three brothers of the previous sultan. There was a minister-type politician who actually held most of the power, however. He was even married to the late sultan's widow making him the brothers' new stepdad. The reign period is called Three Brothers.
