Peru, 1897. One of my recent newps. Quite affordable, really. Pix do not do this prooflike little lusterbomb justice. I tried with an animated GIF image, but I'm afraid that stinks, too.
Let's embark from Chile and leave South America altogether, for a long, long journey across the South Pacific to ... the Land Down Under.
Cheapest coin in my present collection, actually. Set me back all of about 18 bucks, as I recall... already in the slab. (Wait- OK, so maybe it was $20-22, tops.) Granted, that's likely a good price for one of these- I bought it in person in @Aethelred's shop, and he always gives me a good price- but I don't think they're frightfully expensive in any event. I thought it was nice, didn't have an Aussie coin in the Eclectic Box, and what's more iconic than a kangaroo? "Critter coins" are always fun. Yes, I think so. It's a beauty. From my birthyear, too.
Just for grins, here is another 1965. I think someone broke apart a proof set and sold these individually. I got several of them right cheap.
