Well, if Rick concludes it's a Proof, it's a Proof whether I don't get that vibe from one set of images or not.
Well thank you @physics-fan3.14 for an enjoyable thread, I did not know there was such a thing as PL for us copper. Great piece you have.
I would have absolutely no problem selling this one. It is cool, it is incredibly rare, it is very valuable.... but it isn't what I collect. I can get the thrill of owning it for a bit, but it really doesn't fit my collection. That is a *lot* of money to have tied up in a coin that I don't collect. I could sell this one and buy something that does fit my collection (and which would normally be out of my price range).
There's a similar one on the bay right now... http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=181880457214&alt=web
Even better, whoever broke loose the considerable value of this one would be guaranteed to appreciate it far more than yourself, so it's a win all around. Heck, I bet Rick Snow would have interested buyers off the top of his head.
I sold my best Fleagle to DVRC about 10 years ago . . . An NGC MS65 with extraordinary P/L qualities. I tried resubmission as a proof a couple of times, but to no avail. One of those coins I'd forgotten about until I read your thread. Good luck . . .
Wow. It's not something I need for my collection either but I would love to see it at Fun. You have to pass that one around the table before you sell it. Really cool. I'll bet it will buy a coin or two for your PL collection.
I definitely understand your reasoning. I'm not sure what I'd do, because I'm not in this situation. I can guess as to what I'd do, but I can't really say for sure. Good luck with the coin!
