Totally gullible! While I don't agree with the guy in the outhouse who thinks graded coins are silly, I will say that if you can't tell the difference between a 70 and a 69, then you are better off buying the 69. You will save a bunch of money.

As for the "bling" such as signatures, FDOI, First Strike and Early Releases, they have absolutely nothing to do with the value of the coin.

I bought 1 0z 2017 gold eagle for $39 over spot today. I don't have the slightest intention of -- like my other bullion eagles -- of getting it graded.

If you LIKE a certain coin or just want an MS-70 or MS-69 as a CONVERSATION PIECE or just as a showcase or display item, fine.

Just make sure you LIKE/LOVE the coin.

And understand the extra costs you are paying make it a higher hurdle to overcome if you are buying it as a pure gold "investment."

It's one thing to buy gold as an investment, another thing to buy modern coins with embedded premiums.

That said...yes, I do have some graded moderns...and I would buy more but not the BULK of my $$$ would go into them. Maybe 10-20%, tops, the rest would be for raw uncirculated gold coins.

To each his own. Just know what you are doing and why.
