I know, right? Just like the Lincoln Chronicles, the UHR, the 2006 Anniversary set etc. Thank goodness they're all available at 5% over melt now.
Excellent Speedie, Just let me know who to make the check out to... cause i'll take all you've got!!!
What one of those sold out in the first 24 hours? Didn't the UHL take months to sell out? You guys sound the exact same as you did when the ATB pucks came out and where are those now..?
I don't think these are the same ase the ATB's. Those were a new coin type. These are a VERY established coin type with established collector base.
You can buy platinum fractional pandas that are subjectively prettier coins with mintages 1/10 the size and a much much larger collectors base for a lower premium over spot than you can the 25 anv ASE set.
I don't know of anyone that collects those and know of tons that collect ASE's. So to me I don't think that that collectors base is larger. I also think that the economics of that statement would tell me that if there is less mintage and more collectors that the price would be more...
As a silver stacker I can tell you that ASE are boring coins with a collector base that doesn't really go out of the States.
The world becomes more and more globalized every single day. Pandas have a huge collectors base, by far the biggest out of any bullion.
I actually collect as many different 1 oz silver coins as I can. This year I got ASE, maples, harmonicas, pandas, lunar Perth mint, and brittania. Trying to get some Kooks and Koalas too ....
I thought your comparison was for Plat Panda's. You said that they had a larger collector base. Just like ASE'S...well APE's do NOT have a large base and assume Plat Pandas do not either.
The funny thing is that at my silver site I take a stance against Pandas, People think the 09 1oz silver Pandas are such a great buy with a mintage of 900k. They talk so much **** against the ASE's because of the mintage numbers.
Hmm, 36,000,000 Silver Eagles minted for 2011 alone. How many Pandas were sold? I understand you're a stacker so ignorance of numismatics is nothing to be ashamed of. Now, just my opinion, but I try not to buy anything made in China. Who knows what you're getting with the way business is done over there, albeit enabled by "patriotic" American businesses.
They're also in very very high supply, one of the best reasons to not collect something for long term profit.
