Just was on the JM bullion website and saw that they do make Silver Krugerrands
Thought about picking up a few of these but the price is more then 3 times spot !
for 1OZ of silver, my question does this coin demand a premium ?

Just wanted to get the forums opinion before pulling the trigger :)

You either collect or invest in them. 3x spot is not an investment, it's a collection.

Understood, but my question or part of it is there additional value in this coin above spot ?

Absolutely. For now at least. Check out ebay completed auctions to see what the going price is. The Proofs are selling for hundreds!

There it is. BANG! This is a classic "hot for now, cooling down later" kind of issue.

Exactly. That's why as much as I love that springbok, I have yet to buy one. They're not going anywhere, I'll wait for a dramatic price decrease.

The VERY LAST thing I'd EVER buy is one in a slab, SP70 or otherwise.

I only got it because I had like 20 hours of overtime pay at work so I treated myself to one ;)

Sure is pretty. I shudder to think of the premium. Don't tell me, it'll only upset me.

Same. However, it does look sharp in the black slab. I like OGP personally.

Buy it with hobby money to add it to your collection? Have at it, if it turns you on.

Buy it as an investment with money you use for investments? No way.

My bad, i was not thinking of buying a slabbed coin, not really a coin collector
sadly more so in to MPC (Military Payment Certificates) But i was looking at a standard 1oz Silver Krugerrand B/U is there when you sell a premium paid over
    Spot ??

I'm a buyer at $25 each, if you don't think that answers your initial question . . . think again.;)

Well, I'd add one to the collection for $25. No danger of that happening -- cheapest raw on eBay is $59. Proofs start at $349 and go straight up from there.

Anyone who thinks they won't eventually come down to around $25 is kidding themselves. The demand is weak and they are way overpriced for a mintage of *ONE MILLION*. I'm in no rush, and in the meantime all of the desperate advertising the dealers are doing with them is quite amusing.

*COUGH COUGH* *AHEM* *2012 1oz silver lunar dragons* I'm going to take a wild guess and assume people who think the krugerands will go up from the ridiculous $60 per price point weren't around for that fiasco, and those had a mintage of 300k not 1 million LOL

Well, i guess you can wait as long as you want but as months and years tick by there has to be a point when your willing to put out the cash, in any market there,s
Ups and downs and at the end of the day its any ones best guess !
