These whiz-bang modern carriers got it all figgered out, efficiency, ya know.
In my case the package goes on a Fedex truck from Indy, through Ohio, to western Pennsylvania. Then gets handed off to USPS to go back to Ohio.
Four days, sometimes five days later it shows up in my mailbox.
Lets see 300 miles in 4 days(96 hrs) = 3.125 mph ..... they ain't got nuthin' on the Pony Express.

One of my sets. It's in PDF, but I'm going to try to change it to JPG and repost it.

If you had wanted to really make it incorrect, you should have posted it as "mine's".

To add insult to injury for collector's, I see Paradise Mint is now offering this set graded on their site. Obviously the U.S. Mint took care of larger dealers first over individuals. I wonder how many days in advance they let them purchase their sets before the general public could? The deck seams to be stacked against the common folks. Money talks, even to the people who make it.

Yeah. That is messed up. Ultimately we are the ones who make the money train move. Without our interest the mint wouldn't make money nor would the big sellers.

But alas, too many folks are happy with the status quo.

Just think of dealing with the Mint as being in an abusive relationship. Deep down you know it will not get any better, but you go back anyway.

Many of your friends tell you to leave, but you can't and you go back anyway.

You know there are better alternatives out there, but you are too comfortable in your current relationship, as irritating as it is, so you go back anyway.

As they say in domestic abuse therapy (or so I've heard), we only have ourselves to blame.

  8. As Gov. agencies go, I think dealing with the mint is better than most. I got my set a week ago and I really like the Enhanced finish.

    I didn't order a set because I didn't want another reverse proof.

However, I did find a raw Enhanced Eagle on ebay. which is exactly what I wanted, as I am not a fan of slabbed modern bullion.

As many have said, the Enhanced version is very nice and has a lot of eye appeal. I am glad I found it without a slab.

It was $82.00 shipped. I thought that was decent, as in theory, it would have cost $72.50 from the Mint.

Plus, I have it in my hot little hands without having to dance to the Mint's haphazard ordering process.

  10. I agree with you, treehugger on modern stuff in slabs, and $82 to get just the coin you want is not bad.

I ordered mine on the 10th, talked to the mint yesterday and the said my order is now scheduled for mid september. They said the supplier is behind. Must be the supplier of the boxes or planchets as they supply the final product.

I got my set yesterday and after going over it with a fine tooth loupe I'm happy to report absolutely no nicks, dings, scrapes, gouges or spots. Happy collector here.:)

finally got mine today. very pleased that the mint did not compound the embarrassment they call an "order process" by sending me bunk. the coins were beautiful; but the mint is a joke.

so, let me get this straight... I have to watch people get theirs back from grading, and I can order more, but I can't have the ones I ordered yet???

None of this is confirmed, just rumor from another site.

Apparently. The wholesalers got their 10000 sets first, got the graded, made their 400% premium, then returned the rejects to the mint.

In the meantime, individual collectors got mad over waiting months to get their coins (due to further incompetence over packaging), and cancelled their sets.

So rumor is the mint is re-opening the sales window to sell the returns and cancellations. Again, not confirmed.

    STOP

i just read what you wrote and immediately clicked on the link to confirm. it appeared at first as if you were right, so to test it, i tried adding it to my cart. but as soon as i did it gives you a red worded notice saying that you cannot purchase it. do we have anything, liek a press release saying that they are reselling the returns/cancellations?

if in fact the mint sells these outside the window i am going to file a BBB complaint. I paid a $100 premium for a coin that was supposed to be available for purchase for a very limited amount of time in addition to being the first of its kind; increasing it's collectability and value. if they reopen the window, they are going back on that.

if enough of us do this it would matter. if a business gets 100+ complaints in a 7 day period the DA turns their attention towards them.

It's unclear if they started selling them again.
It seems some people did get orders in thru the website.
Someone claimed to have called the Mint and was told they were selling them again.
But someone on another site said he/she called the Mint and was told it is just a website glitch.
I recall they had another similar glitch about a month ago where it appeared the sets were on sale again after the ordering window had closed.

Well the Mint was nice enough to move my MAY 10th order up to be shipped on 7/19 today.

I can't believe what I'm reading. I ordered my set the first day they started selling the set and just found out recently they moved my ship date from mid-July to mid-August. I'm fine that they moved the date but I'm pissed that people who ordered the next day or even days ahead have already received their set. That, in my opinion, is a bunch of crap.
