Here's another data point that the big retailers get theirs first. Received my order from Silver Towne yesterday...Thursday, 6/27.

My first day order now shows an expected ship date of 8/8.

The order I placed in the last 10 minutes on the last day now shows an expected ship date of 7/13. This is sooner than the date for my first day order!

That is pretty strong evidence that the algorithm being used to estimate those dates is badly messed up and the best course of action is to ignore those dates completely.

If anyone has their check box disappear and their credit card charged, please post the date of your order and the first numbers of the order number so the rest of us have an idea of where we stand.

That's really odd because my order number is 41489xxx and I ordered on the first day at 1:22pm and my expected to ship was 6-17, then 7-11 and now its 7-19-13 -what the heck gives with these people!!

I see them circulate all the time on eBay...;)

In the early days of the program, when silver was $4/oz and ASE’s sold for $6, my local convenience store would get them and sometimes Morgan & Peace dollars, all for the one dollar face value, usually to buy cigarettes and booze.

Mike, I apologize if I came on a bit strong...not my intention...we're just sharing opinions. I was offering a possible explanation as to why the Mint describes them as "Enhanced Uncirculated". In fact, I don't have one in hand so all I have to go by is the Mint's description. They only discuss unclassified and lightly/heavily frosted (textured) surfaces. I don't see anything in the description about a mirrored finish.

I agree that some of the surfaces "appear" to have a mirrored finish. You describe the fields (I assume that's what you mean by "backgrounds") as being mirrored, but the Mint says they are "lightly frosted". Perhaps, in contrast, the uncirculated and lightly frosted finishes appear more polished than they really are...I have no idea without seeing one "in-hand".

Perhaps someone that has one already can share their opinions...:thumb:

My second order, placed in the final hours, now has an expected shipping date of July 13th (it had been Sept 30th). If it actually ships that soon, every set sold would be 1st Strike eligible.
I'm, wondering if they're getting a lot of cancellations. When could we expect to an update on the number sold?

LOL! I considered that as well, but such trade in these monetary units is more like shadow-circulation. :D

Ken, you know that baby only circulates from one pair of your trousers to another. And from the looks of it, they need to be cleaned (but not too harshly) sometimes, too. :D

I'm torn. I want to cancel my order and get a retro black NGC 69 set (love those slabs) but I also want an OGP set as it looks like folks are slabbing quite a few.

Should I just wait awhile and pick one up on the secondary market and keep my OGP or would that black holder hold a better desirability factor than the OGP

Can't afford both at the same time and those black holders can't last forever. Oh man decisions.

Accessorizing coins has become a very lucrative business for some. Some being the merchants and high volume dealers wrapping up manufactured collectibles in fancy dresses with designer labels. It's no different from fashion and so-called 'top brands' being marketed to the masses so they can obtain some aire of luxe. Either way you go, TPG slabs or OGP, it's a lot of money for the plastic dressing you're choosing. If money is such an issue driving factor for your choice, and you still wish to collect the coin priced so many, many times above it's intrinsic value with no rarity to speak of in your favor for maintaining future value, apart from a slim margin of subjectively graded 'perfect' coins in an easily manipulated "population", then save yourself the financial crunch and stick with OGP.
