For me, I didn't order it because I wanted to be the first to post pictures on CT, I ordered it to have a set for my collection. If it shows up in the next 90 days, it will full fill my expectations. No need to order elsewhere unless it's below what I paid and worth the effort.

Checked the Mint site earlier today. The status had changed from back ordered status to the In stock and reserved status. The most recent communication I got from the Mint was that it would be shipping on 7/2. Next Tuesday will be here soon so I'm looking forward to getting the shipped email!!!

If I had sent my set to PCGS it would have cost me $282 (set plus grading fees/sh).
    I paid Silvertowne $191 shipped....savings $91.

Thats why I did what I did, not to have my pics up first. Who bought sets to get their pics up first....yeah right.

Besides after Greenie posted his it was over, no mas. I won't be posting any pics cause mine be 69s....who wants to see those...:D

UPS just delivered my graded 69 set from ST.......GORGEOUS !!!! I ordered it Sunday.

Enhanced Eagle looks better than I first thought. It's hard to tell why these got 69s, great quality.

Hitting that eject button was just in time.

Can I cancel from the mint if ordered as a guest? I may go ahead and buy one from Silvertowne

I just noticed that Mintproducts.com is selling new NGC 69 sets for $170.99 Is this a price reduction? It's $8.01 lower than MCM.

Is the spot price finally being reflected on the pricing of these sets?

A $50 - $100 premium over spot couldn't last with the relatively high mintage (281K+) of these sets. I would expect the graded 69 sets to sell for $140 and the raw sets should sell around $100 in a few months.

  8. Your coins look like 70s to me. I have to ask: Are they nice enough in hand to warrant over $100 in premium over spot price? I may cancel and take my chances on the secondary market. TC

    TC;
If your not worried about them being slabbed, you may get a set in the secondary market, but I doubt if they would be less. The same price, maybe. No one willingly sells for less unless extremely desperate. If you wait to long, you may even see silver rebound and the seller's asking for more. At $70 per coin, look at what any reverse proof sells for and add it to the MS special finish, which should have more value than a regular MS ASE.

Shoot heck, the bullion value don't even figure in. Collector value, that's the key. Whether or not collector value remains, well, we'll just have to see.........but it seems like a 'blasted' amount of these sets are winding up encapsulated. He, He..........:)

  12. Yes, I like OGP and maybe will wait it out. I ordered early on the first day and my expected ship date has moved from 6/17 to 7/2 to 7/11 and now to 7/25. Something weird is going on here. Seems like the US Mint is giving priority to the big online sellers.

TC, I ordered only one set, yet I was among one the first to receive it. I think the mint does go by the first in first out scenario.......

If that is the NGC set with the West Point or Flag label, then I've seen that price for a while now.

I ordered late. I think when I checked my ship date was in September!

I don't usually order products from the mint. As a result, it took me awhile to come to a decision and I ended up ordering late as well. I was wondering if the last coins produced are generally lesser quality? My coins are probably going to be some of the very last coins produced and for $140 I don't really want two low quality coins. Has anyone ever ordered mint products, like this one, late and been dissatisfied?

Your chances of getting someone else's return increases. But you can just send it back if you're not satisfied. By then, the aftermarket prices might have fallen.

I have seen posts in this thread that 281,000 is a high number and that the number of ASE collectors is in the lower 200,000 range based on previous sales.

I almost agreed with that, but looking at mintage charts the regular proof silver eagles regularly sell in the 500,000 - 1,000,000 range. Looking at the past few years the regular proof silver eagle has sold 258,000 to 367,000 in the first week alone.

What is the explanation for this? Are there that many proof ASE collectors that are not interested in the special sets? Are many of them birthday/Christmas gifts to non-collectors or something?

I'm just trying to understand the mind of the ASE collector so I don't get burned buying extra sets that I won't be able to sell.

I ordered on the 2nd day(5/10) and I just got an email from the Mint that my ship date has been pushed back from 7/25 to 9/30.:(
