[QUOTE="krispy, post: 1475741, member: 19065"]I am well aware of the idea people have about the Mint sending out so-called, sloppy seconds. But that's not what I was referring to in that thread. I commented on that thread that it can occur, but I still find it hard to prove to what extent. That is why when I was discussing it in that thread, I put "(it seems)" in paraenthesis, as I question the policy myself.

Most people claiming they got returned merchandise from the Mint would be hard pressed to prove it. Most people can't even point to the differences in upper grades of coins if that is why they are returning products. Grading is subjective, humans are not all the same, nor have they the same eye sight and ability to grade coins. Some people may think they see something less than a 70 and return the coin while (IF) another person gets that coin and submits is they might get a 70 in return from a TPG.

As I mention in that thread, coins can be sent out again pending a likely quality control inspection. I have returned visibly damaged coins that I have received from the Mint that were not possibly returned by a previous customer. I have returned coins with scratches and spots, which I received from subscription orders. Those coins which I returned would not go back out to another customer, but they may be sold as impaired proofs to a bullion dealer, possibly. If you return a coin that you 'think' is a 68, and the Mint says there's no QC problem with the coin, surly they could/will send it back out if they have an order to fulfill. The next customer might disagree with your 68 and the TPG they send it to may also, returning a coin in a grade higher that you 'thought' it may get. This is a subject thing, grading is, and what constitutes the hair-splitting difference between those grades varies between people. The Mint isn't likely assessing the coin the same way you are either.

Anyway, your idea that orders placed after the first two weeks of ordering for the ASE 75th will receive any coins returned is a bogus one.
