Silver Towne has PCGS or NGC PR/RP 70 sets listed at $289.95 plus shipping but are currently out of stock. This may be a web-site to watch for when they become available.

Silver Towne has been out of stock on all versions of the 70's for about two weeks. Don't think we'll be seeing many more First Strike/Early Release 70's except through eBay. They do still have 69's.

I like the 69's in a PCGS holder there value priced right now. I can't see paying a big premium for the 70 set when somewhere down the road the set starts to tone or the set developes a small milk spot, thus losing it's 70 grade. That is unless you collect PR/RP 70's with a "milk" star designation. :)

noob here with maybe a dumb question. If I am looking at buying a set PR/RP 70 and wanted the PCGS labels, should I just buck up and pay the premium or buy a bunch of ungraded sets from ebay and resell the ones with flaws trying to break even on the sets I resell?

IMO, at this point, all raw sets out there will have been cherry picked and you'd be hard pressed to find 70's. You would be better off buying a graded set from a reseller at this point.
I also think that, after the dust settles, maybe 2 to 3 years, and even at today's prices, graded sets will begin to appreciate.

all those buying high grade at high prices for 1995w, 2006 and 2011 sets. did they make money. i don't think so. they get burned. at least losing half and above.

    Maybe YOU got burned.

I don't know how much the mint originally sold the 1995W for, but it sells for upward of $2K now.

I don't know how much the mint originally sold the 2006 set for, but it sells for upward of $600 now.

I do know that I bought 5 sets of the 2011 set from the mint, had them graded and sold off 4 of those sets. All told, I netted a little more than $1K profit and still had one set for myself.

I don't know how much the mint originally sold the 2006 set for, but it sells for upward of $600 now. 250k and $100(can only $300 now)

I still think the S Proof will also be a winner down the road.( besides the 1995 w). the 1994 proof will no longer be the king of the block.

Three weeks ago, I was faced with a couple of questions:

    1) Should I buy some of the proof 70 sets from ST at $240
    2) If yes, should I buy the NGC or PCGS graded slabs

Turns out, at least so far, my answer to both questions was correct...heck yeah, buy the 70 graded sets. And, since the PCGS and NGC were the same price at the time, go all in on the PCGS PR70 sets. Looking at eBay current sales, NGC PF70 sets are going for $280 to $320, and the PCGS PR70 sets are consistently bringing in $390 plus. Don't ya just love it when a plan works out... :smile
