OPG hit a new low at e-bay today. $168.50 a set. when another batch of excess sets come out around september to october. we can see many sets selling near or below cost. what you saw prices sold at ebay. when you sell back to them. they will at most offer .6 or .7 on what you are selling.

2012s reverse proof inter-dealers buy and sell quoted at $100.00 bid and $110.00 ask.

This was the 'every man' reverse proof. I still think it will retain some value, though not nearly as much as it's predecessors.....

That's terrible!! I can't believe it's where it is, glad I cancelled my second set from the US Mint. :D

I just looked at the PCGS pops. Seems that for both coins 70% are grading 69 and 30% are grading 70.
I think the value of the reverse proof has the potential to go up.

That's the nice thing about being a collector. No matter what it's value, it makes no difference whether I keep my set or not.

You dont even have to worry about that. The overall quality of these coins are poor anyways. So count on getting a 68 or 69 in quality.

Even though people cherry picked coins to send in, there's only a 30% rate of 70s compared to 69s. And a lot of the 70s aren't even real 70s and contain some flaws.

I think alot of people over-bought these sets in hopes of making quick money, but now with many sellers looking to dump them on ebay for $165 to $180 and graded sets selling for $183 to $200 quick money is out of the question. Not to mention that more sets will be entering the market later because of later ship dates, I think there will be many more cancellation and returned sets. :)

PCGS graded sets are now starting to show up on ebay, these usually command a little premium in the FS and Merconti signed labels. It's amazing at how many labels are being produced by these grading services ~ to many ~ lol

"the true collector does not grade their coins. Rather leaving ' shelf appeal to translate the return in the future". this i read from someone stated. and it's very true. do not buy slabbed coins.

the grading companies will be collapse when computerized and digital knowhow come out in the near future. and to grade all those coins including slabbed. there will be no escape. cause every result will be print out and clearly clarify all circumstances. there will be no grade70. no colorful labels.

In about three to four years, I think that the RP 70's will see a bigger appreciation than most here expect. Short term, not so much.

I agree rickmp, right now there are lot's of sellers of these sets out there. I see today on ebay NGC 70 sets at $289 to $305 range that's pretty cheap for now !

I think you may be right... I've bought 10 sets, 2 orders of 5 just in case I wanted to leave some sealed up. Out of the first box only 1 of the 5 sets could be worthy of PF70 grades. Many of the RP's have defects in the burnished areas with breaks in the "frosting". I also noticed that many of the PCGS submissions on the "shared order" page with the 2012 SF set on them are coming back PF68's & 69's with just a handful of 70's, even the standard proofs~

Since the first strike deadline hadn't passed yet I decided to break open my 2nd box of 5 and I think 3 or the 5 sets are worthy of grading so I'm gonna send in 4 sets to PCGS and roll the dice, although I don't see any reason the wouldn't go 70~ Here's hoping!

Also I don't see these in the PCGS POP report yet, is it posted on their website somewhere that i'm not seeing?

I like the PCGS first strike label alot, I waited to buy my sets from a good dealer. I bought 4 first strike labeled sets at a good price, now we will see what they do a few years from now. I bought them to hold for awile !

I bought 5 sets from the mint. I got 4 proofs in 69 and 1 proof in 70. I got 2 reverse proofs in 69 and 3 reverse proofs in 70. I'm not unhappy with those results.

Yea that is insane, I've been trying to get my hands on PCGS PR70, but no luck yet. PCGS is have a premium of $380 over NGC for the set!

How about just the regular 2012-S proofs, how are those selling are they going over $100?
