Pretty much the same thing happened with me Phdunay. They gave me a tracking number and for two days I'd plug it in on the UPS site and receive the "no record of this number" thingo. I checked late nite on the second day and still nothing. Then, on the third day, I checked in the early morning hours and the package was tagged out for delivery.

 

Good for you. Pitney Bowes sucks. Next hope your box doesn't rattle.

 

I have the same order number. 4:02 is the timestamp.


For what it's worth, I spoke at length (about 20 minutes) last week with a Mint worker, who went into great detail about the process and the problems.


He all but guaranteed that I'd get my order...he did mention after Thanksgiving, though. He couldn't "promise" the sets, but he told me I should not worry about it. "In process" means you've been screened and checked (credit). I doubt the Mint wants to waste time and effort doing this if they don't have the sets on-hand.


He said that if those who ordered before 4:45 pm are okay (provided no other issues), and those who ordered after 4:45 pm are on the waiting list. He said that the Mint may not even have all the coins on-hand at the warehouse, where the sets are collated (which causes even more delays).


A LOT of orders were canceled because the buyers broke the 5-quantity limit rule. So it follows that a lot of people on the waiting list will also get their orders filled, eventually.


Anyway, I got way more information than I ever expected. He said the Mint was aware of what was going on at Ebay, by the way, and they continue to vigorously screen orders for violators of the 5-quantity limit.

 

Yup, every one of my sets had at least three moving about. No harm, no foul though........

Interesting statistics... Also consider that there's an average of 3.7 sets per order (per mint's numbers). Also consider that all the orders may not have been for these sets. And that many orders may have been cancelled.

Thurs 38325 to 38333 delivered 8,000 * 3.7 = 29600
Thurs 38333 to 38337 shipped 4,000* 3.7 = 14800
Fri 38337 to 38352 shipped 15,000* 3.7 = 55500
Mon 38352 to 38365 shipped 13,000* 3.7 = 48100

Total 148,000 = something's off with the calculation.

Want an easier projection? Assume 20,000 sets sold per hour from 12:00 to 5:00. Mint fulfilled orders until 4:00, therrefore, there's 20,000 sets remaining.

 

Finally today I received a message from the US Mint saying that my order has shipped. Still UPS has no record of the tracking number... Hopoefully I will receive it tomorrow or the day after!!!

I forgot to update my status for the list. I am the 2:59PM order (38355XXX) and it shipped today according to my mint account page. I have a tracking number but it only shows that a label has been printed. Also, I received an email at about 9:00 tonight confirming shipment from the mint. Should I expect it tomorrow or Wednesday?

 

Good job, Bodie, Flying Dog and Buying Silver. Very helpful information. I continue to hold out hope.

Bodie ~ did you get the impression from talking to the Mint CSR that those people found to have exceeded the five-per-household-limit might have all their orders cancelled, or just their orders for six (6) and above?

Buying Silver ~ I don't know how many people buying products other than the 25th set would have waited hours to get a web page or operator during that frenzy, so my guess is most of that order sequence is for the 25th set. There may have been some mailed in orders processed during that period, but I think it's negligable.


Work with me, I'm trying to keep hope alive.

 

I agree, numbers may be off. Just trying to note all the listings and numbers in the forum. Don't kill the messenger. I'm hoping as ****, many orders have been cancelled.

 

Yeah, I'm just saying Plenty variables, and unless the mint actually tells us how many they haven't fulfilled yet, it's all guesses.

I do think most the sets have shipped given by the 25,000 per hour estimate they gave for the first hour sales.

I think because the orders are winding down towards the end, the mint is probably trying to be a lot more careful and don't cancel orders that are legitimate (like some of the ones they sent the orders to) and they don't ship to people on the waiting list when other customers that ordered before them haven't yet received their numbers yet. These things would explain the longer lag towards the end and why they seem to have cut it off at 4:00.

 

good job, thst took some work, thanks. It also made me realize that my 2 orders at 3:09 were getting close to the edge.

 

I believe he said that when the Mint discovered people broke the rules, it canceled all of the unprocessed orders from that person, which it reserved the right to do. Many of these buyers called the Mint, asked to speak to supervisors, etc., complained loudly and bitterly, but were basically not given much sympathy (kind of made me glad to hear this).

They really don't have high regard for cheaters, and they're assessing everything they did wrong in order to prevent future scenarios like this one.

 

Got tracking # in Am by=ut not shipped until late in day. Yet UPS has scheduled delivery for tomorrow afternoon.

 

One last think before we all start moving on, It would be nice to know what condition these new sets arrive in. The ones late last week has loose capsules banging around in box.
